U.S. Patent (Designated No. 8,506,914) granted to The University of Alabama utilizes novel imidazole compounds to reduce the release of volatile gases into the atmosphere.
UA was granted a patent on August 13th, 2013 based on Dr. Jason E. Bara’s work. Dr. Bara’s work focuses on utilizing imidazolium-based compounds for industrial applications. This technology has been licensed to the clean tech company ION Engineering with the hope of further developing this technology for carbon dioxide capture.
