UA Alumni named President of Innovative Med Concepts

Pharmaceutical executive Rick Burch has been named President of Innovative Med Concepts, LLC (IMC).  IMC is a Biotech company based in Tuscaloosa, AL focused on developing groundbreaking research with a novel therapeutic approach for pain relief. RickBurch-color

Recently Mr. Burch was V.P. and General Manager of the CNS Business Unit for UCB, a global biopharmacy company based in Brussels, Belgium. Prior to UCB, Rick had a 30-year career with Pfizer, beginning as a sales rep and working his way up to Senior Vice President. In addition he has launched over 20 pharmaceutical products including Celebrex, Lyrica, Aricept, Lipitor and Vimpat.

Innovative Med Concepts has a licensing agreement in place with The University of Alabama and is partnering to create diagnostic tests for fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other chronic ailments. University of Alabama Associate Professor Dr. Carol Duffy is the Chief Scientific Advisor for IMC.  She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Iowa in 2000 and completed her postdoctoral research at Cornell University. She has been a Professor at UA since 2007.
