Upgrade Your Apple Watch
Whether you’re already on the Apple Watch bandwagon or you’ve been on the fence, you’ll want to check out their new Series 4 Apple Watch predicted to come out this fall, according to noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He believes that the new Apple Watch will have a longer battery life, a 15% larger display, and more health monitoring features. He also predicts that they will reduce the bezel space, allowing them to have larger display without increasing the overall device size. Kuo’s firm, KGI Securities, is predicting the 2018 sales for Apple Watch to be between 22 and 24 million. (Fast Company)
The Future of Parking Garages
In the age of shared rides and the push to be environmentally-conscious, there has been a drop in car ownership. That leaves a question often overlooked, what will we do with all of the millions of unused parking garages? Well, Carl Turner Architects teamed up with Makeshift, a company that designs and manages public spaces for local independent businesses, to start a project in London transforming an unused parking garage into a unique shared space. They envisioned this project as a “house of art” and set out to create it. Housing not only free space, but a children’s play area, a music venue, a yoga studio, a hair salon, and restaurants and bars, it really is a multipurpose space. This may be the future of parking garages, and I don’t think anyone will be complaining. (Co. Design)
You May Not Need Those Spanish Classes After All…
Think about the amount of people that you would be able to communicate with if language barriers didn’t exist – the possibilities would be endless. The amount of new ideas and perspectives you could gain, not to mention the relationships you could build that would have been impossible before. Well, this dream may become a reality due to the new translation tech being developed. Although still in its infancy, this new tech will be able to provide real-time translation through an app or your phone. There will of course be logistical complexities to work through in the beginning, but once they are worked out it will be a invaluable tool. As this technology improves, the translation will be fast and accurate enough to have a conversation between two languages that almost feels natural. (Wired)
Tesla Creates Navigation System
If you own a Tesla or, more likely, have dreamed of owning a Tesla, your car just got even better. While Tesla is known for having state-of-the-art features, there is one aspect that is just plain ordinary. The Tesla’s navigation system is nothing to rave about, with the system comparable to the iPhone’s or any other car’s. Honestly, some of the features on their navigation really need an update. However, Elon Musk has been promising a new navigation since last year and he seems to finally be delivering. Musk said there was no way to improve with the old system and they were stuck, but not anymore. The new system will be called Tesla Maps and will be “light-years ahead of the current system”, going beyond map updates and rethinking navigation from top to bottom. Musk plans to have the beta version come out this weekend. (TechCrunch)
